Objectives of BIFA

The Objectives of Bhutan India Friendship Association of Gelephu Local Chapter.

Striving to promote relations and interaction with neighboring Indians accross the border by inducing greater understanding and friendship between the two neighborhoods based on the strong foundation of people to people contact by


  • Fostering socia-economic and cultural tie between the peoples of Bhutan and India,


  • Advocating and promoting "people to people" relationship, particularly students, youths and the common people at the grass root level.


At the National level, BIFA is patronized by 5th Druk Gyalpo Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuk as the president. Lyonpo Ugyen Tshering holds the banner as the Chairman supported by Zimpon Penjore and others in respective field.

BIFA Gelephu chapter is headed by Mr. Gyaltshen Dukpa as the Vice-President who is aided by Mr. Ugyen Rabten as the Secretary General, Mr. Khair Dorji as additional Secretary General, Mr Kinlay Wangdi as Program Secretary and Mr Nav Ratan Jain as Treasurer. BIFA Gelephu Chapter is supported by 5 Advisory Borad Members comprised of senior citizens of Gelephu with 16 Executive Board Members and 24 General Body Members comprised of members from all walks of life.

The Association envisages suporting events and cultural projects with artists such as musicians, dancers, craftsmen, athletics, media personal and academics through visits and exhibitions in neighboring towns in assam and within Gelephu.
